La medicina del estilo de vida (MEV) es un conjunto de intervenciones terapéuticas basadas en evidencia científica que busca mejorar hábitos para prevenir, tratar e incluso revertir enfermedades crónicas no transmisibles. Propone seis pilares: alimentación, ejercicio, sueño, manejo del estrés, cesación de hábitos tóxicos y conexión social.
La inflamación crónica de bajo grado activa continuamente el sistema inmunitario con niveles elevados de citocinas inflamatorias y puede conducir a las principales causas de enfermedad, morbilidad y mortalidad en todo el mundo como las enfermedades cardiovasculares y metabólicas.
En dermatología, considerar una mirada holística e integral puede ofrecer una posibilidad mayor de éxito terapéutico y alivio de los síntomas en el seguimiento de patologías crónicas, inflamatorias, oncológicas, metabólicas y autoinmunes, entre otras.
