Abstract

Adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATLL) is a mature T lymphocyte neoplasm that is associated with human T-cell lymphotropic virus type 1 (HTLV1). It is very aggressive, with a short survival in most cases, and is resistant to chemotherapy. In skin it has no characteristic lesions, it usually mimics cutaneous T-cell lymphomas (CTCL) or other dermatoses, and is affected in 43-72% of cases. In Argentina, especially Buenos Aires, it must be considered an emerging pathology due to the increased circulation of the virus by immigration from endemic places.
