Abstract

Papillary dermal elastolysis resemble pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PDERP) is part of a group of diseases affecting the fibroelastic system of the dermis, characterized by a decrease or loss of elastic fibers at different levels, papillary and reticular. It presents as localized skin lesions on the posterior and lateral sides of the neck, flexor surfaces of the forearms, axillae, and lower abdomen, which clinically resemble pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE). The age of onset, histopathological findings, and systemic involvement help differentiate these two conditions. We report a case in a 70-year-old woman with typical lesions and distribution.
